The Karma can be driven for around 50 miles using electricity stored in lithium-ion batteries. Once the energy in the batteries have been drained, a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine kicks in to bring total range up to 300 miles. Power is transferred to the rear differential via two electric traction motors. Fisker says the Karma is good for a total of 403 horsepower and a top speed of 125 mph.

Inside, the Karma accommodates four passengers in luxurious settings with its abundant leather, metal and wood.

The wheels on this thing are massive, 22 inchers. On the roof are solar cells that capture the sun's rays and can provide power for accessories in the car. The solar roof will be made by Irvine-based Quantum, which co-founded Fisker Automotive and also developed the powertrain for the car.

Set to go on sale next year with a starting price of around $90,000.
